We all have a variety of goals we would like to accomplish. Some are smaller and others are life altering. We call the life altering goals our big goals. Many people think that luck is the predominant way people achieve their big goals. I am here to tell that we are all fully capable of achieving those big goals. It is not an art but in fact a science. The big goals take longer, but the results are worth it. This post will reveal the top ten secrets to accomplishing your goals.
If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes.
— Andrew Carnegie
Big goals require a different strategy.
1. Measure and monitor your progress daily. When you are working towards a big goal, you are in it for the long haul. It is important to keep your eye on your progress. By breaking your goal down into measurable components, you can monitor your progress. If you aren’t making any progress, you may need to tweak your strategy. The forward momentum can be a motivating factor if you are receptive to it.
- Big goal takes more time. It is easy to get discouraged and give up. Most of the progress happens at the end. The key here is to persevere. KEEP GOING!!
2. Keep the goal at the top of your mind. Remind yourself what you are working for daily. At the very least, do positive visualizations daily of yourself having achieved your goal. I find it easiest to do this as I go to sleep at night. The second is to make a vision board or write yourself notes to place around your house or work. These reminders will help you prioritize your daily activities.
3. Be aware of self-defeating behaviors and thoughts. Once you identify them, you can combat them. If you procrastinate, count backwards from 5 and do it. Cut out all the mind clutter and disabling beliefs. If you are facing a fear, then relabel the fear as excitement. Same reaction, but different results. If you are overwhelmed, then meditate or practice gratitude. Bring yourself back into the present.
4. Focus your efforts on smaller habits. They may not seem like much, but over time, it is these small habits that deliver the big results. Are there certain habits you need to adopt to bring your goals to fruition? For example, if you want to lose weight, you have to get in the habit of exercise. If you want a new car, you need to have good credit.
One part at a time, one day at a time, we can accomplish any goal we set for ourselves.
— Karen Casey
5. Build a support system. The more support you have to guide you and keep you accountable, the more likely you are to succeed. Surround yourself with people who won’t let you quit. Find someone who is already where you want to be. Stay tuned later this month and we will offer help with this.
6. Choose the dreams that give you purpose. If the goal you are chasing does not contribute to your purpose, it will be difficult to keep up your motivation. However, if you back it with your purpose and passions, you will be unstoppable.
To achieve your big goals is possible. You only need to adjust your strategies slightly. Nobody says it will be easy, but everyone who has done it will tell you it is worth it. So don’t fear those big goals. We are here to help and support you throughout.
